for folx currently in 6th-11th grade
Find joy, together, as we gather in found family and community to celebrate the journey back into lighter days

presents...

CampOUT's programming shifts for the winter months to offer unity and connection at a time of year where finding an affirming and joyful community matters to kids a little extra.

Join us for full day event that includes a candle light dinner, multi-denominational activities from the season: crafting stations, hot chocolate bar, holiday song karaoke, community building games, drag show, mindfulness activities, hang out time, and more! On this day, we unite in strength that we have MADE IT to the darkest day, as we set intentions of hope and promise as each day forward inches towards more light ahead. NEW THIS YEAR: Unique activities and age-specific groups for our High School participants!

THE DETAILS:

WHO - Our Solstice Event was originally created as a reunion of previous summer campers (and for this reason we welcome returning participants to register starting November 1st. Starting on November 15th, we then welcome new-to-our-community folx (currently in 6th-11th grades) with open arms. Most new participants jump right in, as we specifically honor how by gathering as Queer individuals in this world, we are immediately bonded and connected by this experience. (There is a reason why Queer folx often refer to one another as "family") With that said, because this is a one-day event, it may not be the best fit if your kiddo is slow to warm to an unfamiliar group (sometimes joining with a friend may help!) or they are resistant, themselves, to the idea of attending the gathering. In our summer camps, we have a lot more time to connect with kids to ease this reluctance, and in fact have great luck engaging even the most reluctant camper! Feel free to reach out with specifics if you are not sure if this is the right match for them or if they have supports needed to access this event.

WHAT'S INCLUDED & COST FOR THE DAY is $150 which includes dinner, ceramics & crafts, workshops, cookie decorating, drag show and family tea. If cost is a barrier to participation, please fill out a Scholarship Request form (at the top of the page) before registering. Limited scholarship funds may be available and we work hard to bring camp into reach financially for each and every kid!

WHERE - Our winter event is held at a creative space in the Central Eastside Industrial District, that is a full city block wide motherland of inspiration filled with a clay studio, circus arts gym, gallery space, printmaking facility and music studio. We hope in visiting this location, campers and families can experience all that this unique space has to offer to youth outside of this one day workshop, where newly made friends can return for year-round LGBTQIA2s+ welcoming creative outlets.

WHEN - Solstice Camp is held on the darkest day of the year: December 20th from 11am-7pm.

Registration for RETURNING Campers Opens: November 1st @ 9am
Registration for NEW CampOUT Campers Opens: November 15th @ 9am
