CampOUT Winter Solstice Camp

December 21st ~ 11-7 pm

for folx currently in 6th-10th grade

Find joy, together, as we gather in found family and community to celebrate the journey back into lighter days

CampOUT's programming shifts for the winter months to offer unity and connection at a time of year where finding an affirming and joyful community matters to kids a little extra.

Join us for an evening event that includes pizza dinner, multi-denominational activities from the season: crafting stations, hot chocolate bar, holiday song karaoke, community building games, drag show, mindfulness activities, hang out time, and more!

This event is a one day event featuring workshops, all camp games and activities, a gift making craft table rotation, and a communal closing dinner.  On this day, we unite in strength that we have MADE IT through the darkest days, as we set intentions of hope and promise as each day forward inches towards more light ahead.

  THE DETAILS:

WHO- Our Solstice Event was originally created as a reunion and regathering of previous summer campers (and for this reason we welcome returning participants who are currently in 9th or 10th grades), but we also welcome new-to-our-community middle schoolers with open arms. Most kids jump right in, as we specifically honor how by gathering as Queer individuals in this world, we are immediately bonded and connected by this experience, alone. (There is a reason why Queer folx often refer to one another as "family"!)

With that said, because this is a one-day event, it may not be the best fit if your kiddo is slow to warm to an unfamiliar group (sometimes joining with a friend may help!) or they are resistant, themselves, to the idea of attending the gathering. In our summer camps, we have a lot more time to connect with kids to ease this reluctance, and in fact have great luck engaging even the most reluctant camper! Feel free to reach out with specifics if you are not sure if this is the right match for them or if they have supports they may need.

WHAT'S INCLUDED & COST FOR THE DAY is $140 and includes lunch/dinner, crafts, and entertainment. Participants need to bring nothing with them other than themselves! If cost is a barrier to participation, please fill out a Scholarship Request form (at the top of the page) before registering. Limited scholarship funds may be available and we work hard to bring camp into reach financially for each and every kid!

WHERE - Our events locations are kept private to ensure the safety of our participants and staff. Exact details will be shared once registration and payment are complete. We choose locations for our events in Portland proper, on the east side. If you need more details about transportation or accessibility, don't hesitate to reach out and we can share more details privately.

WHEN - Solstice Camp is held on the Winter Solstice: December 21st, from 11am-7pm.

WHY....  For the JOY of it all, of course!
